Preventive Medicine

The Preventive Medicine Clinic is located in room 161 of the A.P. Beutel Health Center.  Preventive Medicine offers routine appointments from 8 AM -4:30 PM M-F. Patients are seen by appointment only. Call (979) 458-8250 to schedule an appointment. For answers to questions about Preventive Medicine services call (979) 458-8345 to speak with one of our three Preventive Medicine nurses. Preventive Medicine services are offered at a nominal charge to all enrolled A&M students who have paid their health center fee.

Scope of Service

Preventive Medicine offers the following services:
 

   
  • Allergy injections*
  • Travel Consultation and Immunizations
  • Pre-exposure rabies vaccinations for veterinary students and for travel
     

Available Immunizations


Students may receive these immunizations:

 
  • Hepatitis A
  • Hepatitis B
  • Tetanus diphtheria
  • MMR
  • Meningitis
  • Rabies
 
  • Yellow Fever
  • Typhoid pills
  • Varicella
  • Influenza (seasonal)
  • Anti-malarials

Travel Consultations

Travel Consults should be scheduled 6 months prior to the anticipated travel date to ensure adequate time to complete all recommended immunizations. Prior to scheduling a Travel Consult with Preventive Medicine, the student should go to the HEAL lab in the Health Education Department of the Health Center to review the TRAVAX program pertaining to their intended countries of travel.  Please call Health Education at (979) 458-8322 for questions regarding the HEAL lab.

*Allergy Injections must be ordered from a physician.  Students can streamline the process of verification if the will have their physician fill out the Prescription Allergy Injection Form and bring it with them when they come.
