Students can begin using the pharmacy one week before the semester starts and can continue using the pharmacy until the first day of the next semester. Students can use the pharmacy in the summer IF they paid the Health Center fee in the spring and are registered for the fall.  However, to see a medical provider a Health Center fee must be paid.

Does Beutel Pharmacy carry all types of medication, and how can I find out if the pharmacy carries the individual medications that I use?

The Pharmacy carries most medications that the average college student might need, but not necessarily all types. Please call the pharmacy at 458-8292 if you have any questions about which medications we carry.

Can the Pharmacy special order a prescription for me?

Yes, we can special order medications with the approval of the medical director. Please allow 5 to 7 working days for delivery.

How do I transfer a prescription from an outside pharmacy to Beutel Pharmacy, or how do I transfer a prescription from Beutel to an outside pharmacy?

If your prescription is at an outside pharmacy you can:

Fill out the Prescription Transfer Form completely and either fax it (458-8294) or drop it off at the pharmacy.   Or you can call the pharmacy at 458-8292 and have an employee fill out the form for you over the phone.

If your prescription is at Beutel Pharmacy you can:

Call the pharmacy that you want to fill your prescription and give them our direct phone number (458-8292) and any pertinent information (RX number, name of drug, etc.) they may need. They will call us and transfer the prescription out for you.

How do I refill my prescription?

You can:

Use the StORR, our new on-line refill system. You will need to have your Rx Number to use the system. Only Rx Numbers given by Beutel Health Center Physicians are supported.  If you want to transfer a prescription, please turn in our Prescription Transfer Form.

Or you can:

Call our refill line at (979) 458-8295 and follow the directions. If you have the Rx number it will facilitate your refill.  You may also leave the name of the medication.

Can I fill a prescription from an off-campus doctor?

Yes, as long as you are currently currently enrolled, have paid the Health Center fee, and we have the particular drug(s) your doctor is prescribing.

How can I pay for my prescriptions?

You can pay for your prescriptions by Check, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Aggie Bucks, or have your bill transferred to your SIMS account.

What can I do if the medication the doctor prescribed for me is too expensive?

If it is a doctor at Beutel Clinic then the pharmacist will refer you to a case manager who will contact your doctor to see if he can prescribe another medication that is less expensive.

If it is an off-campus doctor then you will need to speak to one of our pharmacists about possible options, or you can try to contact your doctor directly.

Can another person pick-up my prescription?

It depends. In most cases a photo ID of the person picking-up the prescription and some identifying information about the patient (birth date, etc.) is all that is needed for someone else to pick-up a prescription. However, if you have any questions or concerns, please call the pharmacy at 458-8292 ahead of time to make arrangements for pick-up.

Can I use my insurance at the Pharmacy?

The Pharmacy is not set up to accept outside insurance. However, the Patient Services office can process claims to the A&M Student insurance plan. In this instance the student will only be required to pay their Co-Pay amount.

Is the Health Center Pharmacy the only place I can fill the prescription I received from a Health Center doctor?

No, all of the doctors at the Health Center are licensed to practice medicine in the state of Texas. Any pharmacy in Texas will accept a prescription that you receive here.

Where is the Pharmacy located?

The Pharmacy is located inside the A.P. Beutel Health Center, south of the Fish Pond and directly across the street from the All Faiths Chapel. Click here to view the Campus Map.
