We administer allergy
injections Monday - Thursday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and on Friday from 8:00
am to noon. We can store your antigen
and receive refill prescriptions. We use our supplies to administer the
injections.
Q. Will I need an appointment to get an
allergy injection?
Yes, allergy injections are by appointment only. To set
up an appointment please call the appointment line at (979) 458-8250. Please
plan to arrive for your appointment 20 minutes before your scheduled time.
After the injection is administered, you will be required to stay for 20
minutes and be evaluated before leaving.
Q. How do I order an allergy
injection?
The allergy injections may be ordered by a Health Center
physician or an outside physician. (Allergy testing is not
performed at the health center). Students must have a signed physician
order and the antigen for the injection. These items can be brought in by
the student or mailed to SHS by their doctor. We cannot give
injections until the order is received and accepted.
Q. Are there medical restrictions?
We cannot give allergy
injections to students that are taking MAO inhibitors because we would not
be able to be given epinephrine if needed.
Q. How much do allergy
injections cost?
The current cost for an allergy injection is $4.00 for one
and $6.00 for two. Prices are subject to change without
notice.
Q. How do I pick up my vaccine?
Can I have it mailed to me?
Vaccines must be picked up before leaving the University
for any period of time. Under no circumstances will vaccines be
mailed. If you would like for someone else to pick up your vaccine, they must
show your express written consent.
Q. What happens to vaccine that is not picked
up?
We are not responsible for
vaccines that are not picked up. All vaccines will be kept in a
refrigerator until they are either picked up or they have expired. Expired
vaccines are destroyed.
