The SHS Laboratory is located on the lower level of the A.P. Beutel Health Center in room 011 and is accredited by the College of American Pathologists.  The Laboratory is staffed by registered medical technologists that process a wide variety of tests to assist in the medical diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Lab Orders from Outside Physicians/Health Providers
The SHS Laboratory will process tests ordered by health providers from outside the Student Health Center.  The orders can be brought to the lab by the patient or the health providers can fax the order. Each order must be signed by the provider, have a diagnosis code(s) for test(s) ordered, and have a current fax number. The results will only be faxed back to the ordering provider. These outside orders are processed daily until 4:30pm M-F.

Self-Referral Testing
Hours:  Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm
Room:  011 (Basement)

The SHS Laboratory offers a limited number of self-referral tests.  These tests do not require a clinician’s order, and can be requested by the patient at the lab.  You must be a currently enrolled student to take advantage of this service.

Test results are communicated through the Student Health Services secure messaging system and can typically be expected in 5-7 business days.  Two weeks is required for rabies titer results.

The patient is responsible for all charges.  Note: prices are subject to change.  Since these tests are performed without a physician’s order, the charges cannot be billed to an insurance company.  SHS will only share the self-referral test results with the patient.  The patient may request a hard copy of the results if they desire to share the information with an outside medical provider.

The following ten (10) self-referral tests require a blood sample:

Blood Type $29
