Health Insurance
General Information
Health insurance coverage is important while a student is in college.
Student Health Services is an ambulatory clinic and does not provide major
hospitalization or treatment outside of the clinic. Click
here to see services that
Student Health Services provide. Different sources provide health
insurance to students. Sources of health insurance are:
- Group insurance
- Parent's health insurance
- Student's individual policy
- A Student Health Policy
Filing Your SHS Visit with Insurance
Student Health Services can only file on
the University endorsed health plans outlined below. Students with
either of these two policies can see Insurance Services located in room
157 for further information or support. All other patients
can file on their personal insurance plan if so covered.
Insurance Services can assist with this process but the actual filing or
claim must be done by the patient.
For assistance with your insurance
questions or processing of claims, please call Courtney Waggoner at (979)
458-8310. She can also be reached by email at
insurance@shs.tamu.edu.
Insurance Policies Available
The University has endorsed a Student
Health Policy and Graduate Student Policy. This insurance is
available to all students. You may want to review this policy and compare
your current coverage when considering health insurance. This policy may
be useful when:
- The student reaches the age of attainment on a parent's policy,
meaning they are no longer covered or
- The student gets married or
- The student becomes legally independent or
- The student is studying abroad.
Any Texas A&M University student can purchase the policy.
This policy can be purchased locally through:
Dunlap Financial Services
111 East University Suite 110
College Station, TX 77841
(979) 260-9632
Policy information is available on the Internet for
undergraduate students at

and for graduate students at

International Students
International students are required to have 2 types of insurance:
If any international student does not show proof of insurance
coverage, Texas A&M University prevents that student from registering
for classes. All international students must maintain insurance
coverage to stay enrolled in Texas A&M.
International student health insurance
verification (and potential blocking to prevent class registration) is
now monitored by International Student Services.
Detailed information on international student health insurance, and
what to do if you are blocked, can be found
